08/15/00: Dragondale City Saga, part two
by Jeffrey, Host of Dragondale

Adventures on WBS were fun and Dragondale became a popular place to be. Many businesses opened within Dragondale City. And some things that should never have occurred as well, unfortunately.

Because WBS would not support the Hosts of it's rooms, things like Battle Mechs and Advanced Tactical Fighters were brought into the fantasy setting, that just didn't belong. We held meetings to try and return things to the way they were meant to be. No tech, and fantasy based races only. Unfortunately with no support from WBS nothing could be done. The dream was becoming a nightmare. It got to the point several times when he thought of giving up the dream. Thinking to keep Dragondale from being destroyed by those who do not care about it he would close it down. Many people came to him and spoke to him privately about Dragondale and what they cherished. So he was convinced to let things continue.

As time passed adventuring in Dragondale became more and more difficult. Yet through it all friendships and kinship's blossomed and even the enemies of Dragondale could not defeat the people of this proud kingdom.

Roughly about the time that WBS became part of the GO Network things began going wrong. Problems within the sites room, as well as other pressures were building. Jeffrey needed to explode. And he did. He stepped down as host of Dragondale on WBS and resigned himself to just doing background work. His last action was to name Queen Witches as new host of the room, and soon after that WBS was closed.

So you see, Dragondale had come to the Internet. Fun, adventures, and friendship and the Famous Dragondale Pledge: Freedom, Truth, Justice and above all Honor were the founding principles upon which Dragondale was Based. But with the with what was happening on the Internet, would Dragondale survive? Continue on and learn of Dragondale Today....

Then came IMC. Bowen Cayhill, one of our most regular patrons on WBS helped Dragondale continue its life. The exact ways this was does remain shrouded in mystery to this day. What happened later was a sigh of relief. IMC actually listened to the Hosts of its rooms. A key element that had been lacking was found. With much help from IMC's staff Dragondale once more bloomed into existence. Problems needed to be addressed as well as the rules of how the NEW Dragondale would be governed. When the Transition came The Old Staff from WBS was kept and though Jeffrey, the Creator of Dragondale, was offered his old job of Hosting back he declined. With things starting out new, Dragondale was quite lacks in some of what it allowed to go on.

Then everything came to a crisis point. Once more the Technology Issue was rearing its head, only this time things would change. It was put on both City Message Boards. A call for input, "Does Tech go or Stay?" It was debated for 2 weeks, and in the end the People had spoken. Away went the Jet Fighters, Battle Mechs and the like. The room braced. Some people left Dragondale sadly, while more entered.

Then concerns were expressed about character types. Once more the Staff debated. It was determined that Fantasy Races would be the norm since the setting was, and still is, The Forgotten Realms. Yet more questions were occurring. Angels, Demons, Vampires were coming out of the walls. Once more concern was expressed and so once more debate occurred. Demons, and Vampires had always been a part of AD&D and this would not change. Angels, though, required more research. After looking through as much information as could be obtained the answer presented itself. Certain information was found in regards to Angels in the Forgotten Realms Setting. So Angels were included as an acceptable Race and Class as long as they followed the rules for Angels set down in the book.

Sounds like fun right? Well it's been a lot of work to attempt to maintain the room Setting and level of Technology. But so far Dragondale has managed to remain constant.

There you have it. How Dragondale City became what it is today. From the Table to the Globe.

What lies in Dragondale's Future? That chapter has not been written yet. Perhaps you'd like to be part of the Great Adventure? If you're an Adventurer, or just an average person, come by. The City Gates are always open.

Dragondale will soon be reinstituting Adventure Night for those who would love to come by and have an adventure. Dragondale adventures are open to any and all adventurers and only require 1 thing. You have fun. Adventures range in type and strength. One day you could be battling hordes of Kobolds and the next adventure could be facing the Chief Villain in Dragondale City, The Archmage of Thay.

We have a saying in Dragondale. There are no strangers. Only Friends we've yet to meet. Come be counted amongst them.

And that's the way it is.
