These spells are available to all magic users except for supernaturals.

Casters can only cast as many spells during a day as they have points in Ki.  This is referred to as "Ki burn."  This also applies to skills that are not explicitly referred to as spells, such as Supplication.  Rolls such as Int+Ki to resist spells are not burns.

All attempts to re-cast a spell incur a successive -2 difficulty on top of all other difficulties.

Please note that this list is not final and can be updated at any time.  If older spells are modified, there will be a notification of this.

Animal Ken

Allows the caster to establish a telepathic rapport with an animal.

  • Roll: Ki + Animal Ken.
  • Requirements: Within 6' radius.
  • Effects:  The caster and the animal are linked telepathically, and can communicate with each other on a subverbal level.  Note that many animals may not want to keep a telepathic link!
  • Duration: (successes) turns.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for each additional 6' of radius.

Banish Foes

Allows the caster to forcibly repel assailants.

  • Roll: Ki + Banish Foes.
  • Requirements: None.
  • Effects:  Forces all within a 6' radius to resist with Ki + Int; if they lose, they flee the area in a panic (at least 60' feet away) and do not remember what happened.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for each additional 6' of radius.

Camouflage

The caster can blend in with his surroundings.

  • Roll: Ki + Camouflage.
  • Requirements: None.
  • Effects:  Successes are added difficulty to detection.  If someone resists with Ki + Int, the spell is broken.
  • Duration: 1 round.
  • Modifications: No direct modifications, see modifiers table

Fire

Allows the caster to set fire to, or incinerate something.

  • Roll: Ki + Fire.
  • Requirements: Must not be underwater or anywhere where fire cannot burn.
  • Effects: Successes translate into inches radius for the fire.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: -2 for each additional inch radius

Greater History

Provides the caster with details about a person or a thing since their creation.

  • Roll: Ki + Greater History. -4 base difficulty at all times.
  • Requirements: Physical contact with the object or person.
  • Effects: Allows the caster to learn (successes) salient facts about the person or thing, from their entire existence.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for each additional salient fact.

Greater Persuasion

Allows the caster to convince people to do or believe certain things over an extended period of time.

  • Roll: Ki + Persuasion.
  • Requirements: Within earshot, since the spell is delivered in the context of a suggestion or a command.
  • Effects:  The victim resists with Ki + Int or else is compelled to do whatever the person says.
  • Duration: Successes = number of hours.
  • Modifications: As Persuasion but with an extra -2 by default on top of everything else.

Healing

Allows the caster to restore Life to a wounded subject.

  • Roll: Ki + Healing.
  • Requirements: Physical contact with the object or person.
  • Effects: Successes translate into dice to roll for restored life.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for closing open wounds. -4 difficulty for restoring broken bones or internal bleeding.  -8 difficulty for restoring a severed body part.  Countering poison requires at least as many successes as garnered by the poisoner.

Ki Dampen

Prevents all ki-based actions within a 6' radius, except by the caster.

  • Roll: Ki + Ki Dampen.
  • Requirements: None. 
  • Effects:  All ki-based actions, whether or not they burn Ki for the user, including supernaturals' powers, cannot be used.
  • Duration: Number of successes is the duration, or until the victim flees the area.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for each additional 6' of radius.

Lesser History

Provides the caster with recent details about a person or a thing.

  • Roll: Ki + Lesser History.
  • Requirements: Physical contact with the object or person.
  • Effects: Allows the caster to learn (successes) salient facts about the person or thing, from the past seven days.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for each additional salient fact.

Light

Produces a steady source of light from any object that illuminates a 6' radius.

  • Roll: Ki + Light.
  • Requirements: Physical contact with the object or person.
  • Effects: Number of successes is the duration in minutes.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for each additional 6' radius.

Persuasion (Bend Like A Reed In The Wind)

Allows the caster to convince people to do or believe certain things.

  • Roll: Ki + Persuasion.
  • Requirements: Within earshot, since the spell is delivered in the context of a suggestion or a command.
  • Effects:  The victim resists with Ki + Int or else is compelled to do whatever the person says.
  • Duration: Successes = number of turns.
  • Modifications: -2 to make the person tell lies or deceive others. -4 to insure that the victim remembers nothing upon awakening.  -4 difficulty to get the person to deal with something that is manifestly nonexistent, such as eat a meal that isn't there.  -8 difficulty to get the person to do something life-threatening, such as commit suicide, kill another person, step off a cliff, etc.

Purification

Removes a curse the maleficience of evil spirits with a person or place.

  • Roll: Ki + Purification.
  • Requirements: Physical contact
  • Effects: Each success from the purification negates a success by the one who placed the curse.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: No direct modifications, see modifiers table

Spirit Duelling

This is the same as the Ki skill Spirit Duelling, but with two modifications:

  1. The incapacitation is limited to spell rolls only.
  2. However, the duration is rated in days, not hours.
  • Roll: Ki + Spirit Duelling.
  • Requirements: Some previous form of personal contact with the subject
  • Effects: Each success causes a psychic incapacitation of the target for 1 days.  This means the person is at [success] minuses to all Ki spell rolls for that time.
  • Duration: Immediate.
  • Modifications: No direct modifications, see modifiers table

Wall of Force

Repels an attacker with a solid, invisible barrier.

  • Roll: Ki + Wall of Force.
  • Requirements: None. 
  • Effects:  Stops all physical attacks against the caster from a distance of 6'.
  • Duration: Number of successes is the duration.
  • Modifications: -2 difficulty for each additional 6' of radius.
