Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Basic IMC information | Hosts

Details about Room Hosts, a/k/a moderators.

What's the difference between a room moderator and a Host?
None, we have simply used the term Host instead of Moderator. Hosts govern all aspects of a room's content. If you have a problem with things in a room, go to the Host of the room first.

Do room hosts have ban power?

Yes. Room hosts can suspend you for a period of time, or indefinitely, for infractions of room rules. They can also elect to revoke your capacity to show images in a room if you are using images which are too large or outside of the room's theme or rating.

Is each room allowed to post rules and assign operators?

Absolutely. In fact, if you read the section on Creating New Communities, you will see that there's a fairly set course of action for creating a new public room. This course of action requires establishment of a community with structure and internal support.

What exactly can and cannot hosts do?

For more information on this, you'll want to read the document on New Chat Communities.
